Support for Businesses

The City of Portales and State of New Mexico are committed to providing support for existing and potential businesses. Business sustainability, growth, and operation is detrimental to the economy impacting a variety of other community operations and livability standards. The City of Portales seeks to create a smooth and timely process to create an unrestrictive Portales Business Environment.

Other federal, state, and local agencies have made available programs and resources to aid in business ventures, operations, and management.

 

Business.gov:
Business.gov helps small businesses understand their legal requirements and locate government services from federal, state and local agencies. Business.gov is an official site of the U.S. Small Business Administration.
New Mexico MainStreet Program:
New Mexico MainStreet Program is a grassroots economic development program that assists communities in revitalizing their traditional commercial neighborhoods.

New Mexico Partnership:
The New Mexico Partnership is a professional, business-focused, collaborative organization committed to providing a high level of value to companies considering relocating or expanding to New Mexico.
Portales Roosevelt County Chamber of Commerce:
The Chamber provides a prominent vehicle for large and small businesses to join in an interactive effort to identify and develop quality leadership. All members have access to become an integral part of that leadership to grow your business and improve the community
Roosevelt County Community Development Corporation:
The RCCDC assists to generate a healthy economy  engaging in economic
development opportunities.
Small Business Development Center:
The SBDC provides small business assistance with business planning, marketing, business financing, small business start up, entrepreneur training, and other specialized areas to help grow and strengthen businesses in New Mexico.
Portales MainStreet Program
The Portales MainStreet Program is a local non-profit organization that works toward the revitalization and rejuvenation of the Downtown Portales area focusing on organization, promotion, design, and economic positioning providing a variety of resources and grant opportunities to local, downtown businesses.
University of New Mexico-Bureau of Business and Economic Research (BBER):
The BBER at the University of New Mexico is committed to contributing to the understanding of economic and demographic issues in New Mexico by collecting and disseminating information, providing technical expertise, and analyzing and conducting applied research for a diverse constituency including community organizations, businesses, labor unions, government officials, academia, students and others.
